a house and ancillary dwelling in a residential estate in witchcliffe, 10 minutes south of margaret river. the brief for the dwelling was for a high performance and sustainable building that supports several modes of occupation.
two dispersed guest wings – one a self contained unit for short stay tenants and the other a guest suite for visiting friends and family – flank the core dwelling.
optimal solar orientation combined with shading elements, both fixed and retractable, comprise a highly climate responsive design. the dwelling was certified at 8.8 stars NatHERS.
